So I was watching the MTV Music Awards last night. I usually never get to watch them, but this time I just happened to catch it this year. Here are the highlights from the show, or rather, the things I found most interesting about it:

  • Coldplay - their performance was absolutely amazing! “Viva La Vida” is such an awesome song. I can’t wait to get my hands on their album! June 17th!!
  • Smoking a Joint - James Franco and Seth Rogan’s “smoking a joint” stunt they did when presenting the award for Best Summer Movie So Far was really lame. I’m guessing they were probably smoking regular tobacco using rolling papers, but I thought it was kind of annoying that the cameras panned out during the whole thing. However, you’re able to see that footage if you go to MTV’s website. The whole time I was watching that clip, I was thinking how gross it was that they were passing the “joint” back and forth and exchanging spit. I’m such a germ freak, I know. :sarcastic:
  • Best Comedic Performance - I don’t know about you, but the term “comedic” doesn’t really come to mind when I think of Johnny Depp. While I do admit that Captain Jack Sparrow’s antics were quite funny in POTC 3, I was rather shocked to see Johnny Depp win that category. He was up against some really tough competition, including the ever-hilarious Adam Sandler. All the nominees were quite good, with the exception of Amy Adams, of course. He really is a fantastic actor; however, it was quite shocking. It boggles my mind, really. I mean, he was up against Seth Rogan, Jonah Hill, and ADAM SANDLER FOR CHRIST’S SAKE. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to get over that. :???:
  • The Orbit Commercial - I honestly wish I had a link to this video so you all could see it. I could not stop laughing when they showed the monkey humping one of the awards! It was just so fuckin’ hilarious. Humping monkeys amuse me to no end. :sarcastic:
  • MTV Generation Award - First off I have to say that they definitely gave this award to the right person. That man is such an awesome asset to the entertainment industry. He’s given me more ab workouts than my personal trainer did at my old gym! The song he performed was the most egotistical thing ever, but only Adam Sandler could get away with it. Also, Rob Shneider is the only person who can ever get away with wearing a bright yellow spandex suit and a long ass wig in order to dance horribly onstage. The only thing that bothered me about the whole thing was the fact that they picked Tom Cruise to give him the award. The speech sounded forced and monotonous. Oh, and what was up with the whole “Sandman” thing? Yes, I know that’s his nickname, but it doesn’t sound cool at all when it comes out of Tom Cruise’s mouth. He sounded like my dad when he tries to be hip by saying, “Yeah, that’s cool man!” Also, there was no need for him to be saying Adam Sandler’s middle name a million times. It just sounded so weird. So formal. So unlike Adam Sandler. Tom Cruise was definitely not the right person to give this award. They ought to fire the person in charge of choosing those people!

So anyway, those are my thoughts on yesterday’s Movie Awards. It’s the stuff I found most interesting, although you probably won’t think so. :sarcastic:

I might not be able to update for the next few days. The cable is being cut tomorrow, and who knows when I’ll be able to get a connection going again. Hopefully it won’t take too long, but I guess only time will tell.

I’m jealous. I didn’t get to see Coldplay. I love Coldplay. Viva la Vida is one of the best freaking songs on the album already.

I didn’t actually watch the MTV movie awards, there was a fire nearby and I was watching the news. Damn California. Your blog makes me want to watch it, though. Adam Sandler won? I really like him, he’s hilarious. Once I was at In N’ Out and he was at the drive thru, someone yelled, “Hey, look it’s Adam Sandler!” and he stuck out his tongue and drove off.

Lol sorry for the randomness in this comment.

MTV is pretty retarded since they reprimanded that clip when in reality they told franco and rogan to do that skit in the stage..

The MTV Movie Awards are always fun to watch. They usually have good skits.

Humping monkey?!? I wish I could see that one!

I admit that when I read your blurb for the Generation award, I was confused because you didn’t say right away that it was for Adam Sandler. I had to read through the whole thing before making that connection. But you’re right; he definitely does deserve the award. There’s only been one movie that I haven’t enjoyed watching (Punch Drunk Love) and all the rest were pretty good.

I don’t think Adam Sandler is that funny. He has a few movies that I like, but I think overall he isn’t an AMAZING comedian.

    Lucy, hey girl! :)

My favorite part of movie awards was the return of Wayne’s World! I literally screamed and turned the volume alllll the way up lol. I didn’t like the Seth Rogen skit either, definitely lame. I don’t care about people doing drugs and it was messed up of mtv to try and make anything look “cool” to corrupt the youth. I did love Adam Sandler though but ditto on Tom Cruise. He looked like he was off to join Xenu on a magic spaceship or something.

I love every orbit commercial I’ve ever seen. They totally rock.

I hope you are able to get your i-net back up and running soon.
