My trip to Chicago went well. I was a little scared of boarding that plane all alone, especially since I had a layover in Houston on the way to Chicago. I was afraid that I would miss my second flight or something. But everything went well, except for some serious turbulence on the way. Anyway, here are some things I just wanted to share about flying.

  • Turbulence sucks ass.
  • The peanuts are not as good as their reputation holds.
  • The whole ear-popping thing…very annoying.
  • Being stuck in the middle seat, with a full bladder, is the worst.

So in conclusion, I honestly don’t think I was missing out on something big all those years without flying. My weekend in Chicago was great, though. Spending time with my husband was the absolute best, and I found myself wishing the weekend would never end. Unfortunately all good things must come to an end, and now I find myself back at home, moping again.

He gets his orders for A School tomorrow, and I’m hoping to hear from him soon. I have to send him all his stuff, especially his cell phone. Hearing his voice every day would definitely help. In the meantime, I’m already planning a second trip for my birthday next month. Just the two of us, though. His family is great, but I definitely would love some “alone” time (wink wink). And while I would love to write about all the things we did this weekend, I think I’ll just summarize them and post a few pictures.

The graduation ceremony was absolutely amazing. Rob was one of the guys holding a flag (the white one). He looked so scrumptious in his uniform! I also took pictures of the band and the guys holding the guns.

On Friday we went to Gurnee mall. We didn’t really buy anything there except for food at the food court. We had eaten at this horrible Chinese place earlier and I was still hungry! We took a picture by the frog in front of the Rainforest Cafe, and I took a picture of a big tortoise. It was real!

Saturday was spent at Navy Pier and also downtown Chicago. The most interesting thing at Navy Pier was the huge ferris wheel. We totally forgot about getting on it because we started getting hungry (again with the food!). So we went downtown to eat at Chili’s (Rob wanted a huge steak) and we did a little shopping while we were there. We went into the Apple store, of course, and we saw a very cool street performer. I also couldn’t resist myself and did a major splurge. I bought myself a Chanel bag. I’d been wanting one for ages, and finally I get my greedy little hands on one. I absolutely adore it. :shy:

The rest of the photos can be found here.

Leaving is always the worst :( I will never forget how that feels. Chicago is really a fun place to go. There’s so much to do and see. I live about an hour from Chicago and I’ve never been on that Ferris Wheel.

My husband and I need to go in for a weekend and be tourists because he’s only ever been to a few places in Chicago!

Lake Shore Drive is the best because of the gorgeous view. At least it was nice for you this past weekend!
