It’s flu season again. I’m always one of the first ones to succumb to this virus every year. Even now, I can already feel it start to affect me. This is mostly because I have a very weak immune system. If there’s something going around, it’s guaranteed that I’ll have it within the next few days. I was fine yesterday morning, but as the day wore on, my body started feeling sluggish and very heavy. Every muscle in my body ached, and I had a splitting headache, which was making me feel nauseated.

My mother forced me to take some Alka-Seltzer for the nausea and flu-like symptoms I was having. God, that stuff tastes absolutely disgusting! I had to hold my nose so I wouldn’t breathe and start gagging. I think drinking that stuff made me even more nauseous than before. Even though it was really early, I fell asleep pretty quick. My body felt as though it had just finished running a triathlon. I was pooped!

I feel a bit better this morning, which is good because I have to be at work by noon. :yuck: I hope the day goes by quickly, because I have lots of schoolwork that needs to be done! I haven’t even made a dent in all the work that I need to finish, which is quite sad because I’ve had plenty of time to do it. I’m just a big procrastinator and it doesn’t help that I’d rather spend my days lounging around with my fiance instead of doing that!

I usually try and take vitamins every day during flu season, but it doesn’t really help. I still always get sick. A friend of mine likes to drink that Dannon yogurt that’s supposed to strengthen your immune system, and I’m thinking maybe I should try that as well. How do you guys deal with the sniffles? Do you take something to try and prevent it? Do you just have a strong immune system that keeps you from getting sick?

Today is the worst shopping day of the year. Last year my mother and I waited for hours outside of Best Buy, hoping to get one of the desktops that they had on sale. After about five hours of waiting outside in the cold, we were let into the store. We left fifteen minutes later, without the desktop. They had already sold the ten that they had, and I was pretty pissed. I swore that I would never go shopping on Black Friday ever again.

I couldn’t resist, though. Office Depot had a 2-gig flash drive on sale for fifteen bucks! You really can’t beat that. However, I decided not to be one of those waiting in line again. I would go when the store was already open and if I was able to get my hands on one, then so be it. I wasn’t about to suffer for it. Luckily, not many people were at Office Depot, and I was able to get my flash drive.

I also went to Target, and boy was it a madhouse. There were people with four or five carts full of computer gadgets and toys. The aisles were congested with people trying to get through and find what they were looking for. I just wanted to get the hell out of there in one piece! I felt sorry for all the cashiers who were there, dealing with people’s attitudes and bullshit. I’m glad I work at a grocery store!

People were calling in this morning to the local radio show sharing their own personal experiences with Black Friday and some of the stories were unbelievable. Like the young man who called in with his own experience at Wal-Mart. He was trying to buy a very fancy crock pot that was on sale and some old lady stole the last one from his hands while calling him some horrible, obscene names! I couldn’t stop laughing at that one. I can actually picture the old lady calling the young guy a “pinche pendejo”. LMAO.

So, tell me your Black Friday horror stories. I want to hear them!
