Seriously, what is wrong with the world today? My boyfriend called me yesterday after class to inform me that one of our favorite wrestlers, Chris Benoit, was found dead yesterday afternoon. I was shocked, to say the least. Then he told me that he, his wife, and son were all found dead in their home. That was even more of a shock to me. All three dead in their home? It was highly suspicious, and we both suspected homicide. Of course, nobody would say anything about the deaths, other than they weren’t shot. We also heard rumors that Chris Benoit called in sick on Sunday because his family was coughing up blood. He was supposed to wrestle for the ECW Championship that night (and win it, of course). Instead of the live event Raw was supposed to do, they aired a three-hour special dedicating the show to Benoit. I will admit I got a bit teary eyed as I watched some of the wrestlers talk about him. Today, the police let out some of their investigation findings. They suspected it was a double murder-suicide. Supposedly he killed his wife and son over the weekend, then killed himself on Monday. Obviously I can’t say that I knew Chris Benoit to know he wasn’t capable of something like that, but it’s just hard to believe. I don’t even want to believe it, because I admired that man. He was a great wrestler, and he always looked so cool (even in bright yellow spandex). To think that he was capable of killing his own wife, let alone his own son…it’s just sick. Chris Benoit, you’ll be missed dearly by all of your fans. In case you’re wondering where I’ve gone (not that you would, but it makes me feel all warm inside), I’ve been doing nothing but studying, working on presentations, and taking exams. I’m only taking two classes, but they’re pretty intense. I have about two weeks left before this session is over. Then I have a weekend of R&R before the next summer session starts and I begin taking two new classes. I really hope I can survive this summer. I probably won’t be on here for a while…but I’ll still be lurking around. |
